Riyad Mahrez has clinched the Saudi Pro League’s Goal of the Week award for his stunning strike during Al-Ahli’s recent match against Al-Okhdood, which took place last Friday.
Mahrez’s impressive goal, his first of the season, was a standout moment in the game, with the Algerian international delivering a precision strike from the edge of the penalty area.
The powerful and skillful shot found the back of the net, earning Mahrez widespread praise and ultimately winning him the top spot in the fan voting for the league’s best goal in the 8th round.
The Saudi Pro League confirmed the voting results, which showed Mahrez narrowly edging out Al-Ittihad’s N’Golo Kanté.
Mahrez secured 51% of the votes, while Kanté garnered 49%, reflecting the close competition between the two football stars.
Abdullah Al-Anazi of Al-Fateh trailed behind, collecting 2,798 votes and rounding out the top three contenders.
Mahrez’s winning goal comes as a significant achievement for the former Manchester City forward, who joined Al-Ahli this season and is quickly making an impact in Saudi Arabia’s top league.
