Richards Bay striker Yanela Mbuthuma has responded to reports linking him to South African giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
The Soweto giants are keen on strengthening their squad for the upcoming as they seeks to make a meaningful impact in the 2025/26 campaign.
Mbuthuma, who enjoyed an amazing performance for Richards Bay in the recently concluded campaign has entered the rumour mill. The 23-year-old forward has been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs this summer.
The dynamic forward has emerged as one of South Africa’s most exciting prospects since joining Richards Bay in 2022. Discovered at the inaugural Khabba Cup in Umlazi, the youngster has transformed from raw talent to a standout performer in the South African top-flight.
With 10 goals and 8 assists in 83 appearances, he’s become an indispensable asset for the Natal Rich Boyz. He has been tipped as the next big thing in the South African top-flight following his rapid development under coach Jomo Biyela.
“My focus isn’t on transfers or impressing scouts. I play for the fans’ joy. Right now, Richards Bay is where I need to prove myself further.”
Meanwhile, the forward has expressed to have made the South African squad for the June international break.
“This national team selection came as a complete surprise – I never imagined reaching these heights when I first kicked a ball,” confessed the Richards Bay striker, still processing his rapid rise.
