It has emerged that South African coach Pisto Mosimane rejected an offer to coach Sudanese side Al Hilal.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach has been unattached since leaving Iranian side Esteghlal FC in January 2025.
Since he departed from the Persian Gulf Pro League, Mosimane has been linked to multiple clubs.
According to Khartoum Sport, Mosimane had entered “marathon negotiations” with Al Hilal to become their new head coach and succeed Florent Ibenge, who recently joined Tanzanian side Azam FC.
The report added that talks between Mosimane and the 31-time Sudanese Premier League champions began positively but stumbled due to the scheduling of the upcoming Sudanese Premier League campaign, including the possibility that the new season will be played in Sudan instead of Mauritania.
It adds that Mosimane was reportedly interested in coaching The Blue Wave but was hesitant to coach inside the war-torn country at the moment, but he did not rule out the possibility of returning in future as he had not closed the door completely on the club.
The club has not yet made a final decision on the new manager’s post, but a decision is expected to be made soon before the start of the new campaign.
