Egyptian referee Ibrahim Nour El-Din has declared his retirement from officiating at the end of the ongoing 2023-2024 sports season.
This announcement comes after FIFA, the international football governing body, revealed the list of Egyptian international referees for the year 2024.
Taking to Facebook to share the news, Nour El-Din expressed gratitude for the approval of the international list by the Egyptian Football Association, securing his eleventh consecutive year as an international representative.
He added, “After seeking guidance from Allah, I have decided to conclude my refereeing journey at the end of the current season, which began in 2002.
This decision aims to provide opportunities for my younger colleagues to represent Egypt and choose a successor.
My sincere thanks to the Egyptian, Arab, African, and international football associations, the media, clubs, players, and fans, all of whom contributed to shaping the legacy of Ibrahim Nour El-Din.
We rely on Allah in what lies ahead.”
The Egyptian Football Association submitted the international list to FIFA in mid-September of the previous year, following coordination with the main referees’ committee.
The list features nine Egyptian referees, including two from the women’s category, with Ibrahim Nour El-Din leading the roster.
Ibrahim Nour El-Din commenced his refereeing career in 2002, earning international recognition in 2014.
His retirement marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication to the sport.
As Nour El-Din steps away from the field, football enthusiasts and colleagues alike commend his contributions to the sport, wishing him well in his future endeavors.
