Stade Rennais: Doucouré Impresses, Montanier Full of Praise Ahead of Nice Clash
Abdoulaye Doucouré is turning heads at Stade Rennais, and his coach Philippe Montanier didn’t hold back in praising the young midfielder ahead of their Ligue 1 fixture against OGC Nice this Wednesday.
Positioned in the center of the pitch, the 21-year-old has become a key figure in Rennes’ setup and a driving force in midfield.
“He’s a very interesting player and a good lad,” said Montanier. “He’s often in the right place. He’ll improve his efficiency. In terms of volume of play, he can’t do more — it’s already enormous. In terms of kilometers covered, he’s approaching Champions League level. He still has room for improvement in his technique and finishing.”
Having been handed more responsibilities this season, Doucouré has contributed 1 goal and 3 assists, while acting as SRFC’s main playmaker. A close friend of fellow young star Paul-Georges Ntep, Doucouré continues to grow in stature and importance for the Breton club.
