The medical staff of Al Ahly’s first football team, led by Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, has disclosed the rehabilitation program for the team’s duo, Ahmed Abdelkader and Radwa Suleim, who have been sidelined due to injuries, depriving them of recent team matches and training sessions.
Abdelkader and Suleim enjoyed a period of rest along with the rest of the Al Ahly squad, as domestic and continental competitions paused to make way for the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to commence on January 13 in Ivory Coast.
During this hiatus, the duo diligently underwent a rehabilitation program to recover from their respective injuries.
Ahmed Abdelkader is grappling with a hamstring tear, while Radwa Suleim underwent shoulder surgery following an injury sustained in a match against South African side Sundowns in the African League last November.
Al Ahly resumed training on Thursday after a break since winning the Egyptian Super Cup in the UAE on December 28.
Some injured players have made strides in their recovery, but Abdelkader and Suleim are expected to remain on an individual training regimen for up to 10 days before rejoining group sessions.
Currently, Al Ahly is not engaged in any local or international competitions, having opted out of the Egypt Cup, which kicked off its third edition last Monday.
The team’s next official match is slated against Algeria’s CR Belouizdad on February 16 or 17, as part of the fourth round of the group stage in the CAF Champions League, a tournament where Al Ahly holds the coveted title.
