Real Madrid’s Yan Diomande move stalls as RB Leipzig delay response
Real Madrid’s efforts to sign Yan Diomande have reached an impasse, with RB Leipzig yet to respond to the Spanish club’s latest offer for the 19-year-old forward.
Leipzig are scheduled to fly to Saalfelden in Austria on Saturday for a pre-season training camp, following their friendly against Verl. However, Diomande’s involvement in the trip remains uncertain, with a final decision expected on Saturday morning.
The German club’s failure to provide an answer has surprised Real Madrid, according to information from Florian Plettenberg. Negotiations between the two sides are currently at a standstill, leaving the proposed transfer unresolved as Leipzig prepare to leave for Austria.
Diomande has been told that he is included in the squad selected for the journey. Despite that, the Ivory Coast international is hoping to avoid travelling with the team because he remains focused on securing a move to Real Madrid.
Unless there is a significant breakthrough before the squad departs, Leipzig’s present plan is still for Diomande to travel with the rest of the group. The forward is understood to be eager for the two clubs to complete an agreement and begin the next stage of his career in Spain.
If he is required to join the trip to Austria, Diomande is considering refusing to take part in collective training sessions. His intention would be to increase the pressure on Leipzig and Real Madrid to reach a full agreement quickly.
The situation leaves the player’s immediate future dependent on developments between the clubs over the coming hours. Leipzig’s decision on whether to take him to Saalfelden is expected to provide the next indication of how the negotiations are progressing.
Diomande, who was born in Abidjan, is under contract with RB Leipzig until the summer of 2030. He earns an annual income of 750,000 euros in Germany, equivalent to 487,500,000 FCFA.
The player is valued at 90m euros. Despite the length of his existing contract, Diomande’s desire is to realise his ambition of joining Real Madrid, while the Spanish club await a response to their latest proposal.
