Champions League winner Owen Hargreaves has expressed his belief that Real Madrid are interested in Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka.
He suggested that the Spanish giants could consider a future move for the England international following his standout performance in the recent Champions League quarter-final.
Saka, who is of Nigerian descent, played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s 5-1 aggregate victory over Real Madrid, catching the attention of the football world with his display.
Hargreaves, a former midfielder for Bayern Munich and Manchester United, remarked on the potential interest from Real Madrid.
“I suppose after his performance at the Bernabéu—Arsenal won’t even want to hear about this—Real Madrid will look at him and think, ‘He can play for us’.”
Hargreaves emphasized that while Saka has significant responsibilities with Arsenal in the coming years, a move to Madrid could be on the horizon.
“He still has a lot of work ahead of him at Arsenal for three or four years. Win the Premier League, other titles, and then go to Madrid,” he added.
Drawing parallels with fellow England international Trent Alexander-Arnold, Hargreaves noted the trajectory of players moving to top European clubs after domestic success.
“Look at Trent (Alexander-Arnold). He won the league, won the Champions League, and now he’s 27, the same age as when Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United to go to Real Madrid. Real Madrid could end up paying €140 million (for Saka),” he concluded.
Saka’s performance against Real Madrid has not only solidified his reputation as one of Europe’s brightest talents but also sparked discussions about his future and the potential for a high-profile transfer in the years to come.
