Real Madrid step up move for Yan Diomande after €120m fee agreed in principle

Real Madrid are closing in on the signing of Ivory Coast international Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, with an agreement between the clubs expected over a deal worth up to €120m including bonuses.

Foot Mercato reports that Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are now on the verge of settling the terms of the transfer, after an initial offer from the Spanish club was rejected. Diomande is understood to have already given his approval to join the European giants, who are now managed by Jose Mourinho.

The 19-year-old right winger has emerged as a priority target for Mourinho, with the Portuguese coach pushing for his arrival to inject greater pace into Real Madrid’s attacking options. The club’s renewed approach followed their unsuccessful first bid.

If completed on the figures being discussed, the transfer would represent a substantial investment by Real Madrid, with the overall package said to reach €120m once potential add-ons are included. Diomande’s current market valuation on Transfermarkt is listed at €90m.

Premier League interest rebuffed

While Real Madrid have advanced negotiations with RB Leipzig, the player has also attracted attention from the Premier League.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City and Arsenal both made contact with Diomande in recent days to explore a possible move. However, the Ivorian forward is reported not to have responded positively to those approaches. Romano adds that neither Manchester City nor Arsenal submitted a formal offer to RB Leipzig.

That stance has left Real Madrid in a strong position to finalise the deal, with Diomande’s preference understood to be a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Long-term Leipzig contract and salary

Diomande is currently under contract with RB Leipzig until 30 June 2030, reflecting the Bundesliga club’s long-term commitment to the player following his rapid rise.

In Germany, the 19-year-old is reported to earn €750,000 per year, equivalent to 487,500,000 FCFA. Any move to Real Madrid would be expected to include a significant increase on those terms, although specific salary figures have not been disclosed.

The transfer, if concluded, would see one of Europe’s most highly rated young attacking talents join Mourinho’s new project in Madrid, with the deal now dependent on the final details being agreed between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.
