Real Madrid have reportedly handed the club’s penalty duties to French-Cameroonian international Kylian Mbappe.
The decision stem from Vinicius Junior’s unimpressive penalty kicks in recent matches. The Brazilian-Cameroonian missed his second consecutive penalty when Real Madrid succumbed to a 2-1 home defeat to Valencia at the weekend.
Before missing this penalty, the Brazilian had squandered a penalty against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
However, the club has now decided to change Vinicius as primary penalty taker, handing over duties to the former Paris Saint Germain star.
Notably, this season, the Madrid club has already missed five penalties across all competitions.
Mbappe has been impressive since joining Real Madrid, scoring 32 goals and providing 4 assists in 46 appearances across competitions.
Real Madrid will travel to London for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal.
