Real Madrid eye €160m deal for French-Nigerian Michael Olise

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a record-breaking €160 million bid to pry winger Michael Olise away from Bayern Munich in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Spanish giants have identified the 24-year-old French international as their primary attacking target for the 2026/27 campaign, signaling a potential shift in the club’s offensive hierarchy.

Club president Florentino Pérez is said to be driving the pursuit, viewing Olise as the ideal long-term successor to Rodrygo, whose future at the Santiago Bernabéu has been clouded by persistent injury concerns over the past season.

The move also carries significant weight in the dressing room; reports suggest that Kylian Mbappé has personally urged the Real Madrid board to secure his international teammate, even offering to act as a mediator to convince Olise to make the move to La Liga.

The staggering valuation follows a career-best season for Olise in Bavaria. Under the management of Vincent Kompany, the former Crystal Palace star has evolved into one of Europe’s most clinical creators, amassing over 30 direct goal contributions across all competitions this term.

His blend of technical elegance and explosive pace has made him the focal point of Bayern’s attack, leading to his status as a “non-transferable” asset in the eyes of the German club’s hierarchy.

Despite Real Madrid’s financial might, a deal remains far from certain. Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl recently reiterated that Olise’s current contract, which runs until June 2029, contains no release clause.

To ward off interest from Madrid, as well as Premier League suitors Manchester City and Liverpool, Bayern are reportedly preparing a lucrative two-year contract extension that would tie the Frenchman to the Allianz Arena until 2031.

Insiders close to the Bundesliga champions suggest that while a €160 million offer is substantial, Bayern may not even come to the negotiating table unless the figure nears the €200 million mark.

With the summer window approaching, the battle for Olise’s signature is expected to become the defining transfer saga of 2026, pitting the historical lure of the “Galacticos” against Bayern’s determination to remain a European powerhouse.
