Real Madrid have begun internal discussions about a possible sale of Vinicius Junior, with the Brazilian forward yet to commit to a new contract despite ongoing efforts from the club’s hierarchy.
The 24-year-old, who has Cameroonian heritage, is currently under contract until 2027, but club officials are increasingly uneasy about the potential risk of the deal running into its final year without renewal.
Sources within the club say securing Vinicius to a long-term extension had been a top priority, but recent developments have changed the landscape.
According to OkDiario, the player and his representatives have not ruled out allowing the contract to run down and exploring a free transfer in two years.
A key sticking point remains Vinicius’s salary expectations. He has long sought parity with the top earners in the squad, but Real Madrid’s financial flexibility has been limited following the massive signing bonus paid to Kylian Mbappé last year.
As a result, contract negotiations have stalled, with the club’s latest offer—reportedly a six-year deal through to 2031—still untouched.
The impasse has forced Madrid’s board to consider alternatives, including a potential transfer this summer if no breakthrough is achieved.
While a final decision is yet to be made, sources close to the club confirm that all scenarios are being evaluated.
