In the summer transfer window, Spanish giants Real Madrid will look at parting ways with experienced defender David Alaba.
The Austrian defender with Nigerian roots is one of the highest-paid players at Real Madrid.
After his signing from the German Bundesliga side, Bayern Munich, David Alaba struggled to stay fit and has missed so many games due to injuries.
Initially seen as a marquee signing, the versatile defender was expected to bolster Real Madrid’s backline in both full-back and center-back roles. However, his spell at the Santiago Bernabéu has been hampered by frequent setbacks, leading the club to reassess his position in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
According to sources, Real Madrid would need to pay up to €22.5 million to part ways with Alaba, as he still has a year left on his contract. With less than half a season remaining, the Austrian has limited time to prove his worth and convince the club to keep him beyond the summer.
Real Madrid officials are keenly monitoring the player’s situation and that of several others. A decision on Alaba’s future will be taken at the end of the season.
