Real Madrid confirm Arda Guler renewal as Thibaut Courtois future takes shape

Real Madrid have reached a full agreement to renew Arda Guler’s contract, while Thibaut Courtois is also expected to remain at the club beyond his current deal, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano said the agreement with Guler was “100% done”, with only the formal procedures and official announcement outstanding. Real Madrid are also preparing for the presentation and official photographs to mark the renewal.

Guler’s contract situation is one of several issues being addressed by the Spanish club as they look to retain key members of their squad and settle plans for the coming seasons.

Courtois’ existing contract runs until June 2027, but both the Belgium goalkeeper and Real Madrid want to continue working together. Romano said an agreement in principle between the two parties was now very close to completion.

The goalkeeper is expected to remain Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper for the 2027-28 season and the campaign that follows, with the club nearing the final formal steps needed to complete the renewal.

The outlook is less certain for Endrick, despite the Brazil forward being under contract with Real Madrid until June 2030.

Endrick has struggled to secure regular playing time under Jose Mourinho, and that has led to uncertainty over whether he will remain with the club. Romano said the forward received several offers during the summer transfer window.

Those proposals included loan moves to Aston Villa, Roma and Milan, while Liverpool also expressed interest. However, Real Madrid rejected every option, whether it involved a temporary move or a permanent transfer.

Romano said Endrick’s future would depend to a large extent on the number of appearances he makes by January. The player will continue working to reach his best physical condition and convince Mourinho to give him a greater role in the team.
