RB Leipzig turn down Real Madrid’s €100m move for Yan Diomande as transfer race escalates

RB Leipzig have rejected a €100m offer from Real Madrid for Ivory Coast forward Yan Diomande, with the German club holding out for a higher fee as a growing list of European giants circle the 19-year-old.

The bid from the Spanish champions, reported by Fabrizio Romano, was structured at €90m guaranteed plus €10m in bonuses. Leipzig are understood to consider that figure insufficient and value Diomande at more than €100m, despite the proposal already surpassing his current estimated market value.

Talks between Leipzig and Real Madrid are continuing, with the La Liga side keen to secure the teenager’s signature, but no agreement has yet been reached.

PSG and Arsenal in the chase

While Real Madrid push to reach a deal, Paris Saint-Germain are also in negotiations with RB Leipzig over Diomande. Discussions between PSG and the Bundesliga club remain ongoing, but the parties have so far been unable to find common ground on the terms of a transfer.

Arsenal are additionally monitoring the situation and, along with Real Madrid, are described as eager to move ahead of PSG in the battle for the Ivorian’s services. The French champions had been viewed as well placed in the race earlier in the window, but now face serious competition.

Leipzig, meanwhile, are under no immediate pressure to sell. Diomande is tied to the club on a long-term contract running until 30 June 2030, strengthening their position at the negotiating table and allowing them to resist bids they deem too low.

Rising value of Ivory Coast international

Diomande’s market value is currently estimated at around €90m, a figure that Real Madrid’s initial offer already comfortably exceeded in fixed payments alone. However, Leipzig’s rejection underlines the premium they are placing on a player seen as one of the most promising young attacking talents in Europe.

The Ivory Coast international, who is 19, is reported to earn €750,000 per year (487,500,000 FCFA) at Leipzig. That relatively modest salary, compared with the transfer fee being discussed, further highlights how significantly his reputation has grown in a short period.

With Real Madrid, PSG and Arsenal all involved, Diomande’s future is expected to be one of the major storylines of the remainder of the summer transfer window. For now, Leipzig are standing firm, insisting that any club wanting to sign their teenage forward will have to pay well in excess of €100m.
