Rayan Cherki delivered a crucial goal in the 70th minute to secure a 2-1 victory for Olympique Lyonnais over Lille in Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The match started on a difficult note for OL, with Franco-Guinean defender Bafodé Diakité giving Lille the lead early on.

However, Lyon quickly responded, with captain Alexandre Lacazette converting a penalty in the 30th minute to bring the score level at 1-1.

Cherki, who had been introduced as a substitute for Ernest Nuamah in the 7th minute, proved to be the difference-maker.

His decisive strike in the second half not only gave OL the lead but also marked his seventh goal of the season in Ligue 1.

The 20-year-old Franco-Algerian winger has been in impressive form, contributing 9 assists in his 24 league appearances this season.

Cherki’s goal was a result of excellent positioning and composure, highlighting his growing importance to Lyon’s attack as they look to climb the Ligue 1 table.

His performance added to what was a vital three points for the club, allowing them to continue their push for higher positions in the league standings.

Despite a shaky start to the game, Lyon showed resilience and determination to turn things around, with Cherki’s goal proving to be the turning point.

The victory is a testament to the team’s ability to bounce back and capitalize on key moments, especially with Cherki continuing to establish himself as one of the standout players for the club this season.
