Rassoul Ndiaye dreams of Senegal World Cup call-up
Senegalese midfielder Rassoul Ndiaye has expressed his hope of being selected for the national team’s squad ahead of the next World Cup, describing the possibility as an “incredible honour”.
Speaking in the mixed zone after Le Havre AC’s 1-0 defeat to Olympique de Marseille at the Stade Océane, Ndiaye reflected on the upcoming squad announcement and his ambitions to represent Senegal on the global stage.
With the selection of the national team squad approaching, the midfielder acknowledged that the possibility of inclusion is on the minds of many players hoping to represent their country.
“Of course, every Senegalese player who is fit to play is thinking about it. We will follow this closely and if it doesn’t happen, we will continue to work. And if we go, it will be the result of our work,” Ndiaye said.
The 23-year-old was also asked what it would mean to take part in football’s biggest tournament, and he admitted the idea carries significant emotional weight.
“It is an incredible honor to play for the nation, so for the World Cup it is even better. We hope that it will materialize,” he added.
Ndiaye’s comments reflect the anticipation building among players as national team selections draw closer, with competition for places expected to be intense.
The midfielder, who has been developing his career in France with Le Havre, remains focused on continuing his performances at club level while waiting for the decision on his international future.
For Ndiaye, the opportunity to represent Senegal at a World Cup would mark a major milestone in his career, but he stressed that any selection would need to be earned through consistent performances and continued hard work.
As the announcement nears, the midfielder joins a growing list of players hoping to be included in what would be one of the most significant moments of their football careers.
