A highly anticipated encounter is on the horizon as Egyptian teammates Ramy Rabia and Omar Marmoush prepare to face off when Manchester City takes on Al Ain at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Rabia recently joined UAE side Al Ain after parting ways with Egyptian giants Al Ahly. The experienced defender will now go head-to-head with Marmoush, who signed for Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January.
The 22-year-old forward has settled in quickly, scoring 8 goals and registering 3 assists in 22 appearances for the Premier League side.
Both players have been included in their clubs’ squads for the global tournament, setting up an all-Egyptian battle on 22 June in the second round of Group G.
The upcoming match will mark only the second time Rabia and Marmoush meet as opponents. Their first encounter came in 2017, when Marmoush led Wadi Degla’s attack against Rabia’s Al Ahly in the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals.
Now, eight years later, the stage is far bigger, and the stakes much higher.
