Ramadan Sobhi transfer generates fresh tension before Al Ahly clash with Pyramids
Ramadan Sobhi has once again become the center of attention in Egyptian football as Al Ahly prepare to face Pyramids FC in a heated Premier League match tomorrow.
The winger, once a darling of Al Ahly’s fans, continues to draw headlines nearly five years after his controversial switch to Pyramids.
Ramadan’s journey has been closely followed since he rose through Al Ahly’s youth ranks before earning promotion to the senior team in 2013. He later joined Stoke City in 2016, then moved to Huddersfield Town. In 2019 he returned to Al Ahly on loan, but his permanent move to Pyramids in 2020 left many supporters divided.
The debate reignited on Friday after FIFA’s Players’ Affairs Room revealed that Pyramids secured Ramadan’s transfer for 2.5 million pounds, while Al Ahly’s reported bid was higher at 3.5 million. Reports also claimed that Pyramids still owe Huddersfield nearly 97 million Egyptian pounds.
A Pyramids source, however, told Kooora that the payments are being rescheduled, stressing the club’s commitment to settling all dues without facing official sanctions.
