Raja coach Sabinto departs Morocco after another disappointing result
Ricardo Sabinto, the manager of Raja Athletic Club, has left Morocco and returned to his home country of Portugal following a string of disappointing results that have left his tenure at the club in jeopardy.
The Portuguese coach departed for Portugal immediately after his team, the “Green Eagles,” played to a goalless draw against Moghreb Tétouan on Saturday, in their 10th round match of the professional league.
Sabinto, who made the journey from Tétouan to Tangier by taxi before catching a flight from Ibn Battuta Airport, is reportedly returning with a heavy heart, having been unable to deliver the expected results since taking over from Bosnian coach Rosmir Cveko.
Under Sabinto’s leadership, the team has struggled, recording four consecutive draws and a loss in his first match in charge — a 2-1 defeat to Al-Shabab Sports Club, Al-Salem.
Despite these poor results, the Raja board, led by president Adel Hala, had shown confidence in Sabinto, but the continuing negative performances have led to mounting pressure.
The specter of dismissal now looms over Sabinto as fans grow increasingly frustrated with the team’s lack of progress.
The patience of the Raja faithful appears to be wearing thin, and further setbacks could hasten his departure from the “Green Castle.”
Raja Athletic Club’s management is in a difficult position. They are hesitant to part ways with Sabinto so soon, as a mid-season managerial change could destabilize the team and worsen their form.
However, with the pressure mounting from fans and the growing uncertainty surrounding Sabinto’s future, the club faces a pivotal moment in its season.
The coming weeks will likely be crucial in determining whether Sabinto can turn things around or if his time at Raja will come to an end.
