Raja Casablanca set for FIFA financial windfall

Raja Casablanca are expected to benefit financially from FIFA following the official participation of Jordanian midfielder Mohammad Abu Zraiq “Sharara” and Moroccan left-back Youssef Belamri with their respective national teams at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Moroccan giants are set to receive compensation through FIFA’s club benefits programme, which rewards clubs whose players take part in the World Cup tournament.

According to reports, Raja Casablanca will receive half of the compensation linked to Jordan international Sharara because the player spent the first half of the current season with Jordanian club Al-Ramtha before completing his move to the Moroccan side.

As a result, the financial allocation for the midfielder’s participation will be divided between Raja and his former club in accordance with FIFA regulations regarding player registration periods during the qualifying cycle and tournament participation.

A similar arrangement will apply to Moroccan international Youssef Belamri.

Raja are expected to receive only part of the compensation related to the defender’s World Cup involvement, while the remaining share will go to Egyptian club Al Ahly, whom the player joined during the last winter transfer window.

FIFA’s compensation programme awards clubs a fixed daily payment for every player participating in the World Cup finals, with the amount calculated according to the duration of each player’s stay in the tournament.

Reports indicate that FIFA grants approximately $10,000 per day for each player involved in the competition, meaning the final amount received by clubs depends heavily on how far their national teams progress in the tournament.

This means Raja Casablanca’s potential earnings could increase significantly if Morocco and Jordan enjoy successful World Cup campaigns in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

For Raja, the financial boost comes at an important time as clubs across African football continue seeking additional revenue sources to strengthen their squads and improve financial stability.

The participation of players such as Sharara and Belamri on football’s biggest stage also reflects Raja Casablanca’s growing contribution to international football and highlights the club’s role in developing players capable of competing at the highest level.

Jordan are preparing for their first-ever appearance at a FIFA World Cup after securing historic qualification, while Morocco head into the tournament with high expectations following their remarkable semi-final run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Both players are expected to play important roles for their national teams, which could further enhance Raja Casablanca’s sporting reputation alongside the anticipated financial rewards.
