Hussein Rahimi etched his name into Casablanca derby folklore by scoring the equalizer for Raja Casablanca in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against rivals Wydad, marking a historic moment alongside his brother, Soufiane Rahimi.
With his goal, Hussein and Soufiane became the first pair of brothers to score in the legendary derby since its inception 69 years ago.
Soufiane had previously found the net in the fierce city showdown before moving to Al Ain in the UAE Pro League.
Raja Casablanca’s management has swiftly moved to extend Hussein’s contract following his standout performance.
A product of the club’s youth academy, the 24-year-old forward was recently kept from transferring to a Libyan club—a decision that now looks justified.
Hussein has emerged as the club’s top scorer this season, netting seven goals in the Moroccan top flight. His rise mirrors that of his older brother, as both have gone on to represent the Moroccan national team.
The Rahimi brothers’ story is rooted deeply in Raja’s history. They are the sons of Mohamed Youri, a beloved figure who has served as the club’s baggage handler for nearly 60 years.
Born and raised on the club’s campus, the brothers grew up immersed in Raja’s culture and legacy.
Soufiane was transferred to Al Ain for $3 million—a significant gain for the club considering he came through the youth ranks without costing them a dime.
Saturday’s Casablanca derby, held at the iconic Mohamed V Stadium, was part of the 26th round of the Moroccan League and ended in a hard-fought 1-1 stalemate.
