An inspection committee from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has expressed high praise for the final preparations underway at the Rabat Olympic Stadium, set to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
CAF officials were particularly impressed by the “astonishing speed” with which the stadium’s development has progressed, especially considering that it will stage Group B matches in the tournament, which includes Tunisia.
The Rabat Olympic Stadium is one of nine venues selected by Morocco to host the upcoming AFCON.
“The Rabat Olympic Stadium is now ready to accommodate matches,” a source revealed.
“Only a few minor touches remain, and they will be completed shortly.”
Remarkably, the stadium was constructed in just a few months and is the first of three new stadiums built in Rabat for the competition.
Additionally, the stadium is set to open next month to host the prestigious Diamond League athletics event.
It will also serve as the venue for Morocco’s international friendlies against Benin and Tunisia in June 2025.
The stadium will officially be handed over to CAF in November, just a month before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations.
