Qatari giants Al Sadd are weighing up a move for Moroccan international Adam Masina following his departure from Italian side Torino.
The Doha-based club remain focused on securing the signature of Italy centre-back Alessio Romagnoli, but with the January 31 transfer deadline looming, Masina has emerged as a strong alternative should talks collapse. Crucially, the 32-year-old is currently a free agent, meaning he would still be eligible to join Al Sadd even after the window shuts.
Masina enjoyed a largely reliable spell at Torino when fully fit, although his 2025–26 campaign was disrupted by recurring muscle injuries that ruled him out for several weeks. Despite those setbacks, he delivered solid performances in Serie A, underlining his versatility by operating effectively as both a left-back and a central defender.
Known for his defensive intelligence and ability to read the game, Masina proved a dependable option whenever available, offering composure and positional discipline at the back.
On the international scene, the former Bologna and Watford defender stood out for Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations. He played a pivotal role in a well-organised defensive unit that conceded just one goal from open play en route to the final, with his physicality, aerial prowess and calmness under pressure drawing praise.
With vast experience across Italian and English football and fresh from an impressive AFCON showing, Masina represents an appealing option for Al Sadd. The Qatari side believe his leadership and defensive stability could prove invaluable if their pursuit of Romagnoli fails to materialise.
