Qatari side Al-Shamal have completed the signing of Egyptian midfielder Akram Tawfik.
The club announced the signing of the midfielder in an official statement on Thursday, June 12, after his contract with Al-Ahly Club ended.
The 27-year-old midfielder finalised the deal after completing a mandatory medical examination. He signed his new contract in the presence of Mishaal Al Ali, head of Al-Shamal’s football department, and Ahmed Al Sada, vice president of the department.
A press conference is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Saturday, where the club will officially unveil Tawfik to the media and supporters and reveal full details of the contract.
Tawfik, who will wear the number 72 shirt, becomes Al-Shamal’s first signing ahead of the new season as they begin building their squad.
During his time with Al Ahly, Tawfik won multiple major honours, including several CAF Champions League titles, the Egyptian Premier League, and the Egypt Cup.
He also represented the club in the FIFA Club World Cup and played for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations.
