Disturbing statistics have been revealed regarding the potential death toll of workers in Qatar before the 2022 World Cup if no action is taken. The International Trade Union Confederation conducted studies based on information collected from embassies, estimating that an average of 5,000 workers, of various nationalities, could die before the tournament. The figures are derived from reported deaths of workers, particularly from countries like India and Nepal. The general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation, Sharran Burrow, expressed concern, stating that if the current situation persists, more workers might die than footballers participating in the World Cup. FIFA has acknowledged its concern regarding the issue.
