DJAMEL BELMADI RETURNS TO LEKHWIYA AFTER LAUDRUP’S EXIT
Djamel Belmadi is back at the helm of Lekhwiya SC, the Qatari club he previously led to league titles in 2011 and 2012. The Algerian coach returns after the departure of Michael Laudrup, who left the club to reportedly take over the Danish national team following the exit of long-time manager Morten Olsen.
Belmadi’s comeback marks a full circle after his brief stint as head coach of the Qatari national team, a position he lost in April due to a contract renewal dispute with the Qatari Football Association.
Lekhwiya’s management, impressed by Belmadi’s past achievements and familiarity with the club, opted to reinstate him in hopes of continuing their domestic dominance.
