Al Ahly coach Jose Riveiro leaves out Eman Ashour ahead of Pyramids clash
Al Ahly coach Jose Riveiro showed his authority by sticking to his plan and leaving out some of his key names ahead of tomorrow’s big Egyptian Premier League match against Pyramids FC at Al-Salam Stadium.
The Spanish coach faced calls to include Emam Ashour and Marwan Attia, but he refused to bend under pressure.
Ashour and Attia had hoped to make the squad, knowing that a place against Pyramids could boost their chances of joining Egypt’s national team camp starting Tuesday. But Riveiro was clear in his stance. Both players were omitted due to fitness concerns, a decision that underlined his belief in picking players only ready to deliver.
The squad for the closed camp features goalkeepers Mohamed El-Shenawy and Mostafa Shobeir, defenders Ashraf Dari, Ahmed Abdeen, Mostafa El-Ash, Mohamed Hani, Ahmed Ramadan, and Karim Fouad. In midfield are Aliou Dieng, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Ahmed Reda, and Mohamed Magdy Afsha.
Up front, Taher Mohamed Taher, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Hussein El Shahat, Achraf Bencharki, Gradishar, and Mohamed Sherif will lead Al Ahly’s charge.
