Qatar Club is reportedly in negotiations to acquire Al Ahly’s midfielder, Aliou Dieng, according to Qatari newspaper “Al Raya.”
This development follows Qatari sports channels suggesting that Dieng is a potential player for the Qatari league during the upcoming winter transfer window.
The Qatari club is reportedly engaging in talks to secure the services of Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng from Al Ahly as a replacement for the Iraqi player Bashar Resan, as reported by the Qatari newspaper.
The report emphasizes that the Qatari club faces competition from several Gulf and European clubs, with the player receiving an offer from the Belgian league.
A source from Al Ahly previously stated to FilGoal.com, “We have not received any official offers from Qatari clubs to purchase Aliou Dieng so far.”
The source added, “If any offers for Dieng arrive, we will assess the situation according to the opinion of the coaching staff, whether to approve or reject it.”
At 26 years old, Dieng joined Al Ahly in 2019 from MC Alger. During his tenure with Al Ahly, Dieng achieved multiple successes, including winning the Egyptian League and Egypt Cup twice each, the Egyptian Super Cup twice, the CAF Super Cup twice, and the CAF Champions League three times.
He also secured a third-place finish in the FIFA Club World Cup three times.
In a total of 203 appearances for Al Ahly, Dieng scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists.
In the current season, Dieng has participated in 15 matches across various competitions.
Dieng’s most recent appearance for Al Ahly was in the second half against Saudi club Al Ittihad in the FIFA Club World Cup, which marked Al Ahly’s debut in the tournament.
