Pyramids winger Pascal Phiri earns Zambia call-up for mini-tournament in Botswana
Pyramids FC youngster Pascal Phiri has been included in the Zambia squad for the March international break, with the Chipolopolo set to participate in a mini-tournament this month.
As confirmed by the outfit, the 20-year-old winger will join the Zambia squad for a friendly tournament scheduled to take place in Botswana.
The competition will feature four southern African nations, with Zambia set to face off against hosts Botswana, as well as Malawi and Zimbabwe during the training camp.
Phiri joined Pyramids earlier this year from Zesco United during the winter transfer window. Since his arrival, the young winger has made one appearance for the club, playing 18 minutes in a CAF Champions League match against Power Dynamos, although he is yet to register a goal contribution.
Meanwhile, Pyramids continued their strong run in the Egyptian Premier League after securing a narrow 1–0 victory over National Bank of Egypt SC in a rescheduled match from the 15th round.
The win marked their second consecutive league triumph following a 3–1 victory against Haras El Hodoud. The results have helped Pyramids strengthen their position in the title race.
The club also benefited from a slip by Al Ahly, who suffered a 2–1 defeat to Tala’ea El Gaish in the same round. That result allowed Pyramids to open up a three-point gap over the Cairo giants.
With the latest victory, Pyramids moved to 43 points, temporarily level with Zamalek SC, who are scheduled to face ENPPI on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, National Bank of Egypt remain on 26 points in ninth place, a position that effectively ends their hopes of finishing in the league’s top seven this season.
