Pyramids are not backing down after the Egyptian Football Association’s appeals committee upheld a controversial decision favoring Al Ahly.
The club has announced plans to take the case to the international stage following what it sees as a clear breach of league regulations.
Tension flared when Al Ahly refused to appear for the highly anticipated league match against rivals Zamalek on 11 March, citing their objection to the appointment of foreign referees. The Competitions Committee initially ruled the Reds forfeited the match 0-3 and docked them three points.
However, the league’s board, led by Ahmed Diab, overturned the points deduction, leaving Al Ahly with just a loss to Zamalek but no penalty in the standings. Pyramids, viewing this as a failure to uphold the rules, filed a complaint that was later rejected.
In response, a club source revealed Pyramids are working with an international lawyer and will soon take their case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). They plan to escalate after facing Petrojet in the Egyptian League’s penultimate round.
