Pyramids FC has shed light on its stance regarding the use of foreign referees for the upcoming Egyptian Premier League showdown against Al Ahly, set for April 12th in the title-deciding second round.
The club’s deliberations come as the competition heats up in the final stretch of the season.
Earlier, Pyramids FC had publicly expressed its interest in securing a foreign refereeing team for the critical matches pitting Al Ahly against Zamalek in the league’s climactic phase.
A Pyramid insider revealed to Kooora, “We have already informed Ahmed Diab, head of the Egyptian Clubs Association, of our desire to hire a foreign refereeing crew.”
“Diab informed us that the Olympic Committee’s decision regarding the Zamalek-Al Ahly match crisis confirmed the illegality of the association’s request to the Egyptian Football Association to cover the costs of officiating matches with foreign referees.
“Diab informed us of the need to send an official request from the team wishing to bring in foreign referees to the Egyptian Football Association, along with a valid check to be paid for the foreign referees within a specific period.
“We did not reject bringing in foreign referees, but we are studying the matter to decide our position after the new developments.”
