Mostafa Zico opens up on win over Wadi Degla

Pyramids FC forward Mostafa Abdel Raouf Zico has expressed his delight after helping his side secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday evening.

The 28-year-old was instrumental in the triumph at the Air Defense Stadium, scoring the decisive goal to earn Pyramids FC their eighth consecutive league victory and maintain their perfect start to the campaign.

Zico was subsequently named Man of the Match following his impressive display, with his second-half strike proving crucial in settling the encounter.

Speaking to ON Sport after the game, the Egyptian forward admitted that Wadi Degla gave his side a difficult afternoon but was pleased with how they responded after conceding an equaliser.

“The match was difficult for us, as Wadi Degla plays good football and they exhausted us today. We took the lead at the beginning, then they equalised, but we managed to score the second goal and achieve victory,” he said.

“I have been playing in the striker position since I was with the Egyptian national team, and the coach took advantage of that. He held a meeting with me as soon as he arrived and informed me that I would be playing in that position,” he added.

The forward further disclosed that his match-winning effort was the product of work on the training ground rather than a moment of luck.

“I love playing in that position, and as for the goal, we have practised it. The team does not score a goal by chance. All those goals were practised in training, and we apply them on the field,” he stated.

He credited Mohannad Lashin for providing the assist and expressed confidence that Pyramids FC can achieve something significant this season.

“Mohannad Lashin passed the ball to me well, and I was fortunate to score the goal. We will work to achieve a great accomplishment this season,” Zico concluded.

The victory takes Pyramids FC to 24 points at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table, while Wadi Degla remain 14th with seven points.
