Egyptian side, Pyramids FC have reportedly shut down reports of holding talks with Rulani Mokwena to replace current head coach Krunoslav Jurcic.
Having led the side to clinch the CAF Champions League trophy for the first time, the Croatian manager has been reported to be likely to leave the club.
Recent rumours suggested that Mokwena is negotiating with the Sky Blues and could be set to take over as head coach.
While speculation continues to swirl around Mokwena’s potential move to Pyramids FC, reports from Egypt have indicated that the club is, in fact, close to extending Jurcic’s contract.
“We are in the final stages of negotiations with Jurcic to renew his contract,” a source told Arabic publication Mr.khabars.
“There is a mutual desire between the two parties to continue, especially after the historic coronation of the African Champions League title.
“Al-Marwati expressed his great happiness with the stability within the club and the ambitious sporting project led by the Sky Blues.
“The name Pyramids has become attractive to many coaches in Africa and beyond, but we trust Jurcic and consider him an essential part of the club’s future project. The final decision regarding the renewal will be announced within a few days.”
Mokwena, who has also been linked with a move to Zamalek, has been without a club since parting ways with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.
