Pyramids FC is making a firm move to ensure fair officiating in their highly anticipated showdown with Al Ahly.
The club’s management is preparing to formally request foreign referees for the second-round clash in the Egyptian League coronation stage.
A Pyramids FC source confirmed to Kawoura that the administration is inclined to secure an international referee for the April 12 match at the Air Defense Stadium.
Pyramids previously opted for local referees in their first-round meeting against Al Ahly but is now considering foreign officials for key fixtures moving forward.
Currently leading the league table with 42 points—three ahead of second-placed Al Ahly—Pyramids is keen to avoid any officiating controversies as the title race intensifies. The club intends to submit a formal request to the Egyptian Football Association before the month’s end, covering all associated costs.
Their stance follows dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions in the previous encounter, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The match saw Pyramids’ Ahmed Tawfiq sent off by referee Mahmoud Al-Banna, a decision that drew strong objections from the club’s management.
