Pyramids FC, Egypt’s premier football club, is grappling with a formidable challenge as several players’ contracts approach expiration at the end of the current season during the ongoing winter transfer window.
A number of Pyramids’ players are now eligible to sign with any club during this winter transfer window, paving the way for a potential departure from the Sky Blue team on a free transfer at the season’s end.
Informed sources revealed that the Pyramids’ management is actively engaged in negotiations during this current period, aiming to renew the contracts of essential team members.
Foremost among these negotiations is with Abdullah El Said, who has attracted interest from Zamalek.
El Said, looking to embark on a new chapter with Zamalek next season, is reflecting on the experiences gained within the confines of the Sky Blue club.
The club is also keen on renewing the contracts of defensive duo Ali Gabr and Ahmed Samy.
Discussions are expected to take place with the pair after their return from representing Egypt in the aftermath of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, aiming to finalize the extension of their contracts.
Pyramids FC has yet to finalize contract renewals with Mohamed Hamdy and Osama Galal, as affirmed by Hany Said, the club’s sports director.
Said stated in a television interview, “Mohamed Hamdy and Osama Galal’s contracts end at the conclusion of the current season, and negotiations are ongoing for the renewal of their contracts.”
The contracts of Ahmed Fathy, Islam Issa, and Dodo El-Gabbas will also conclude at the end of the current season.
However, Pyramids’ officials have decided against renewing their contracts.
Pyramids FC is scheduled to face Tala’a El-Gaish in the Egyptian League Cup today.
Currently, the team holds the fourth position in the league standings with 17 points, secured from 5 victories, 2 draws, and a single defeat.
The players have netted 12 goals and conceded 9, with 3 matches yet to be played.
