Pyramids FC head coach Krunoslav Jurcic has confirmed that he personally intervened to prevent Ibrahim Adel’s proposed move to Getafe FC during the winter transfer window.
The Egyptian international had attracted interest from the Spanish club, which had made an offer to sign him on loan, but the deal ultimately failed to materialize.
Adel, widely regarded as one of Egypt’s most promising talents, has been on the radar of several European teams following a series of standout performances.
However, Pyramids FC showed little inclination to negotiate his departure, with Jurcic playing a key role in the decision to keep him at the club.
In an interview, the Croatian manager openly admitted his opposition to the transfer.
“I refused Ibrahim Adel’s departure for Getafe FC. He is one of the best players in Egypt,” Jurcic stated.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been instrumental for Pyramids FC this season, helping the team secure a place in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals, where they are set to face Morocco’s AS FAR.
Given his influence on the pitch, Jurcic’s reluctance to sanction his exit is unsurprising, as Pyramids continue their pursuit of continental success.
While Getafe’s interest in Adel highlights his growing reputation, it remains to be seen whether the Spanish side—or other European clubs—will return with another bid in the next transfer window.
For now, the Egyptian playmaker remains a crucial figure for Pyramids FC as they aim for silverware both domestically and in Africa.
