Pyramids’ Egyptian Premier League match with El Gouna moved because of African Champions League tie

Pyramids’ Egyptian Premier League meeting with El Gouna has been moved back by one day because of the club’s involvement in the African Champions League.

The fourth-round fixture was originally scheduled for Tuesday, 8 September, at the Air Defence Stadium. The Egyptian Clubs Association has now confirmed that it will take place on Wednesday, 9 September instead.

The change has been made to accommodate Pyramids’ first-leg preliminary-round tie against Kenyan side Gor Mahia, which is due to be played on Sunday, 6 September, in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

The Confederation of African Football had previously set the date and venue for the opening match of the tie. Pyramids will then host Gor Mahia in the second leg at the Air Defence Stadium on Sunday, 13 September.

Pyramids have made a perfect start to their Egyptian Premier League campaign, collecting maximum points from their opening two matches.

They began the season with a 3-0 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla before recording a 2-0 win against Abu Qir Fertilizers in the second round.

Their next league assignment is against Al Masry on Monday, when they will play their third-round match. The outcome will come as the club manages its domestic schedule alongside its African Champions League commitments.

Pyramids finished last season as runners-up in the Egyptian Premier League, ending the campaign two points behind champions Zamalek.
