Dutch heavyweights PSV are edging closer to completing a deal for Italy-born attacking midfielder of Guinean descent, Alphadjo Cissé.
The Eredivisie side is reportedly advancing talks to secure the signature of the 19-year-old from Hellas Verona, with leading Dutch clubs prepared to invest around eight million euros to land the highly rated prospect.
Cissé has been one of the standout young performers in Serie B this season during his loan spell with Catanzaro. His return of six goals and one assist in the first half of the campaign underlined his technical quality, creativity, and eye for goal.
The proposed transfer is now largely dependent on an agreement between Hellas Verona and Catanzaro regarding compensation for the early termination of the loan deal. Catanzaro are said to be holding out for 1.5 million euros, while Verona have tabled an offer of 500,000 euros, although optimism remains that a middle ground will soon be reached.
Viewed as a major long term investment, Cissé fits PSV’s strategy of strengthening its attacking options with emerging talent. Once the loan situation is resolved, the deal is expected to progress swiftly.
The teenager made his professional debut with Catanzaro earlier this season and quickly established himself as one of Serie B’s most exciting prospects, scoring six goals despite limited minutes.
A move to the Eredivisie would represent a significant step forward in his young career as he prepares to test himself at a higher level of European football.
