Zoumana Camara Joins PSG Staff as Assistant to Laurent Blanc
Zoumana Camara is staying put at Paris Saint-Germain, but this time, not as a player. The 36-year-old Franco-Malian, who recently retired from professional football, has officially joined Laurent Blanc’s technical staff as an assistant coach.
PSG confirmed Camara’s new role in a press release, describing his duties as similar to Claude Makélélé’s when he was part of the staff—a liaison between the players and coaching team. Camara, a respected figure in the dressing room, had already started assuming this role informally during the Marcoussis training camp.
“I still have to finalize the project with the management,” Camara stated. “But I’ll be joining the technical staff and will have a bit of a Claude Makelele role: acting as a link between the staff and the players. Something I was already doing a bit this season.”
Camara, who also played for Marseille earlier in his career, spent nearly a decade at PSG, earning admiration for his professionalism and leadership. His smooth transition into coaching reflects PSG’s intention to keep continuity and strong internal leadership within the squad.
