The departure of Carlo Ancelotti from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) seems to be confirmed, and PSG is reportedly choosing between two prominent names in football to fill the coaching position.
One candidate is Fabio Capello, the current coach of the Russian national team. While Capello has stated his intention to stay in his position before the 2014 World Cup, he also added, “In life, you should never say ‘never’.” Contacts with Capello are reported to be very advanced, with his son, Pierfilippo, expected in Paris to negotiate the details of his father’s potential arrival with Leonardo, the PSG sports director.
The other candidate is André Villas-Boas, the current coach of Tottenham. Villas-Boas, who previously coached Porto, is reportedly considering his future at Tottenham, especially regarding transfer-related issues.
Zlatan Ibrahimović, who has decided to stay at PSG for another year, is said to be pushing for the arrival of Fabio Capello. Ibrahimović and Capello had previously worked together during Ibrahimović’s time at Juventus (2004-06), and the Swede holds Capello in high regard, stating, “There are a lot of great coaches. The one who left the biggest impression on me, who gave me the most confidence and allowed me to progress was Fabio Capello.”
