At just 17 years old, PSG’s promising forward Ibrahim Mbaye has decided to represent Senegal internationally, turning down France after years in their youth teams.

This move is seen as a major win for Senegal. Mbaye is expected to join the Senegal squad for their high-profile friendly against Brazil in London on November 15, a decision he made after being inspired by the “ambitious project” outlined by the Senegalese federation.

“My heart is with Senegal and I believe in what the team is building,” Mbaye affirmed, embracing his heritage.

Mbaye has been a rising star at PSG, even making 25 appearances for the club and breaking their record as the youngest player to debut in an official match, just 16 years, 6 months, and 23 days old. This season alone, he played in 13 matches and featured in the Champions League amid PSG’s injury woes.

Senegal’s recruitment drive doesn’t end with Mbaye. Goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf and defender Mamadou Sarr have also pledged their futures to Senegal.
