Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has extended an olive branch to Kylian Mbappe, following the forward’s high-profile departure to Real Madrid last summer.
Mbappe, whose roots trace to Cameroon and Algeria, left PSG at the end of the 2023/24 season after seven years at the French capital club.
During that time, he became PSG’s all-time leading scorer and the face of the team. His exit came just before the club secured a historic quadruple, winning the Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France and French Super Cup without him.
Asked if he regretted losing the French superstar, Al-Khelaifi struck a conciliatory tone. “I don’t regret it. I think I have to thank Kylian, honestly, because he’s also given a lot to the club,” he told France 5’s C à vous.
“Him, Messi, Neymar, Ibrahimovic, all the players… because it was a very important period for the club.”
Despite previous tensions surrounding Mbappe’s contract negotiations and eventual departure, Al-Khelaifi praised the player’s contribution and maintained a respectful stance.
“We’re lucky this year without him, but I also wish him the best, because I have great respect for the big stars, the great players. Even if we have a small conflict, honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I wish him the best.”
He ended the segment with a smile and a light-hearted caveat: “What I don’t wish him is the best when he plays against us!”
