Hervin Ongenda Loaned to Bastia Amid PSG Transfer Window Drama
Despite Laurent Blanc’s wish to keep him, Hervin Ongenda was loaned to Bastia during the final hours of the transfer window. The deal was influenced heavily by Ongenda’s entourage pushing PSG to let the young Congolese player leave.
Bastia president Pierre-Marie Geronimi explained that both clubs initially defended their interests, especially after the Brandao-Thiago incident, which was deemed unacceptable. Bastia’s coach had wanted Ongenda for a long time, but the move seemed impossible until Ongenda’s representatives pressured PSG.
Ongenda sought more playing time, and Bastia’s reputation for developing young players convinced his advisors. The player will now work under Claude Makelele, his former PSG assistant coach, as he aims to prove PSG wrong for letting him go.
