It seems that Paris Saint-Germain’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, expressed strong dissatisfaction with the referee Clément Turpin following the 1-1 draw against Montpellier during the 12th day of the Ligue 1 championship. Ancelotti did not mince his words in criticizing the referee’s decisions, particularly the expulsion of Mamadou Sakho.
In his comments, Ancelotti suggested that there is a recurring issue with Mr. Turpin, noting that he has already given Paris Saint-Germain three red cards. Despite asserting that his team is not aggressive and respects opponents and referees, Ancelotti voiced his concern about the lack of reciprocal respect.
He specifically mentioned incidents involving Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s two-match suspension (red card against Saint-Étienne) and Sissoko’s case (a foul against AS Saint-Étienne that earned him only a yellow card during a disciplinary hearing). Ancelotti appeared to be frustrated with what he perceived as inconsistency in refereeing decisions and called for fairness.
In the case of Sakho’s expulsion, Ancelotti stated that there was no fault, emphasizing his disagreement with the referee’s decision. The coach criticized Turpin for wanting to be too much of a protagonist in the match and accused him of making a mistake during the game. It’s clear that Ancelotti was not pleased with the officiating and sought to address what he perceived as unjust decisions against his team.
