Matuidi Stays Positive as PSG Train in Morocco During Winter Break
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi has urged calm and focus as the French champions prepare for the second half of the Ligue 1 season with a training camp in Morocco.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Matuidi reflected on PSG’s first-half performance and dismissed any sense of crisis despite the club trailing league leaders Marseille by three points.
“The situation isn’t dire and not everything is doomed,” said the France international. “In the league, we’re only three points behind the leaders. So, of course, we want to do better. We all know our situation could be better. But we’re still in the running on all fronts: league, cup, and Champions League. We can still achieve all our goals and we’re all keen to do much better.”
The former Saint-Étienne man’s comments come as PSG look to regroup and regain momentum after a somewhat inconsistent start to the campaign. The Parisians remain active in all competitions and are aiming to mount a stronger title challenge in the second half of the season.
PSG will round off their Moroccan training camp with a high-profile friendly against Italian side Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Marseille, who lead Ligue 1 at the halfway mark, were officially crowned autumn champions.
