PSG enter race for Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka ahead of summer window

Paris Saint-Germain have joined the list of clubs eyeing a potential move for AS Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka as the summer transfer window approaches.

The Ivorian international has emerged as a target for the Ligue 1 champions as they look to reinforce their defensive options for the 2024/2025 season.

Despite a strong domestic campaign, PSG are believed to be planning squad changes, with Ndicka now featuring prominently on their radar.

At 25, Ndicka is no stranger to European football, having already featured for three clubs across the continent: AJ Auxerre in France, Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, and currently AS Roma in Italy.

He has established himself as a key figure at Roma this season, racking up 47 starts and showcasing his consistency and physical presence at the back.

With his contract situation reportedly being monitored and speculation mounting over his future, interest in the Ivorian defender is intensifying.

Arsenal have long been linked with Ndicka and are believed to be considering him as a possible replacement for William Saliba, whose name has been associated with a high-profile move to Real Madrid.

The Premier League club is keen to maintain its defensive solidity but now faces direct competition from other top sides.

Real Madrid themselves have reportedly evaluated Ndicka as a potential reinforcement.

However, for the Spanish giants, the move is not seen as a pressing priority at this stage, giving other clubs an opportunity to make their move.

PSG, on the other hand, are thought to be more determined. The French giants are eager to freshen up their backline, particularly with question marks hanging over the futures of Presnel Kimpembe and Lucas Hernandez, both of whom have struggled to secure consistent minutes due to fitness and form.

In this context, Ndicka is seen as an ideal candidate to bring strength, depth and versatility to Luis Enrique’s defensive setup.

Reports from British outlet The Mirror have placed Ndicka’s current market value between £25 million and £34 million, a fee that is unlikely to deter clubs of PSG’s or Arsenal’s financial stature.

Given his age, experience and international pedigree with the Ivory Coast, Ndicka is being viewed as one of the more appealing defensive options in the upcoming market.

Should he make a move this summer, it would mark Ndicka’s fourth club in European football, a testament to his rising stock and adaptability across top leagues.

For the player, a transfer to Paris would represent a return to his homeland while offering Champions League-level competition and a chance to compete for domestic titles.

As the summer window draws closer, the race for Ndicka is heating up, with PSG’s interest adding a new twist to what is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched transfer sagas involving an Ivorian international.
