Prince William, an avid Aston Villa supporter, attended Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Following the match, he observed that the absence of star player Kylian Mbappé has led to a more unified team dynamic.
“Not having Mbappé there, the Parisians have already talked about it in the media, but not having superstars makes the team better.
“They play well, they’re a good team.”
Kylian Mbappé, of Cameroonian and Algerian descent, left PSG for Real Madrid in June 2024 after his contract expired.
During his seven-year tenure in Paris, he became the club’s all-time top scorer, netting 256 goals in 308 appearances.
Since Mbappé’s exit, PSG have demonstrated a more collective approach on the field, with players stepping up to fill the void left by the prolific forward.
This shift has resulted in a series of commendable performances, including their recent Champions League revival.
Looking ahead, PSG will aim to maintain their momentum in the return leg against Aston Villa, striving to secure their place in the Champions League semi-finals.
