Paris Saint-Germain is actively planning for the succession of Maxwell, despite the Brazilian left-back recently extending his contract until June 2015. While Lucas Digne was brought in last summer as a potential replacement, PSG is exploring additional options to bolster their left-back position.
According to reports from Eurosport, PSG scouts have been monitoring the performances of Faouzi Ghoulam, a former Ligue 1 player currently playing for Napoli. The 22-year-old Algerian international, who previously featured for AS Saint-Etienne, joined Napoli in January for a reported fee of €5.5 million plus bonuses, signing a contract until June 2018.
PSG’s interest in Ghoulam suggests their intention to add depth and competition in the left-back position, ensuring they have suitable options for the future even after Maxwell’s tenure.
