Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), expressed his desire to retain Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the club. Although Ibrahimovic’s contract with PSG is set to expire in 2015, Al-Khelaïfi is reportedly looking to extend the Swedish star’s contract for an additional year. The president is also optimistic about retaining Blaise Matuidi and Jérémy Ménez.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Al-Khelaïfi stated, “Matuidi confirmed to me that he wanted to stay in Paris beyond the current season. I’m sure we’ll keep him with us, and he won’t go free. Same thing for Jérémy Ménez. We want to keep him; he is one of the greatest talents, even if he still needs to improve. As for Ibra, he is the soul of the club, like Thiago Silva or now Cavani. He is a vital element of PSG. Keeping him here as long as possible is very important.”
While Matuidi and Ménez are expected to continue with PSG, questions may arise about Ménez’s playing time, which has been limited. Ibrahimovic, on the other hand, recently scored his first goal of the season against Guingamp during the 4th day of Ligue 1.
